Welcome to River North

You will love the river north area of Chicago!

Chicago has a number of fun and diverse neighborhoods to visit and in which you can live. Whether you are renting or buying, you will find that the River North area of the city has quite a bit to offer. Years ago, this region was an industrial area, and then it became a warehouse district. In the 1970s, the warehouses started to close down, and this left quite a few large and empty buildings in the area. These buildings had large spaces for lofts and studios, and this created a place for many artistic types, including painters and writers, to live.

Over the course of the last three or four decades, things in the area have been changing and evolving. The buildings are much nicer than they were back in the 70s for starters! The area is now one of the top places to live in the city, a veritable cultural hub that caters to the artistic crowd. Whether you are an artist or a writer, or you simply enjoy the artistic lifestyle, you are going to find plenty to love here. Even tourists make their way to River North to see what it offers, and art is available in large doses here!

You can also find some of the nicest luxury condo buildings in River North. Some noted buildings are, The Fordham at 25 E. Superior, The Pinnacle at 21 E. Huron and 55 E. Erie to name a few buildings that are 1 block to world-class shopping on the Magnificent Mile, dining at some of downtown Chicago’s finest restaurants, or strolling along the lake.

Art Lovers Appreciate the River North Area

One of the things that many love about the area is that it is home to one of the largest collections of art galleries in the United States. The only other city that has more would be New York. Those who live in the area will be able to find quite a few different types of galleries as well including contemporary and modern art, classical art, sculptures, and more.

Some of the area’s most popular galleries include the Alan Koppel Gallery, the ZG Gallery, and the Maya-Polsky Gallery. No matter the type of art you love, there is a good chance that you will be able to find a gallery that suits you. In addition, if you happen to be an artist who is living in or thinking about moving to the area, you will be able to find some great art supply shops in the neighborhood.

Places to Dine

While art is great, you also have to have some places to grab a bite to eat when you are out with friends and family. You will find that you have a host of different choices when you are in River North. Quartino is a popular place that serves Italian. Those who are looking for some steak and seafood should head to Joe’s Prime Steak & Stone Crab.

A Great Place to Live or Visit

Whether you are going to live in the area or you are just going to visit, you will find plenty to enjoy. They are able to offer antique stores, boutique shops, grocery stores, and more. It is a great place to get out for a walk and experience the city.
